Managing Replenishment Paths in Recurrency

Updated over 2 months ago

Recurrency allows you to define and manage replenishment paths directly from the platform, allowing for efficient inventory management across multiple locations.

High-Level Features

  1. Replenishment Path Configuration

    • You can now define replenishment paths for item-locations directly in Recurrency. Replenishment paths can be set up based on:

      • Location: Default replenishment location for a specific location.

      • Supplier-Location: Replenishment location for specific suppliers at a location.

      • Item-Location: Replenishment location for specific items at a location.

  2. Smart Lead Time Calculation

    • For item-locations with different replenishment locations, the smart lead time now includes the lead time of the purchasing location plus the transfer days between locations.

  3. Enhanced UI for Replenishment Paths

    • The Planning page includes a column showing the replenishment location, with a detailed modal view available on hover.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Access Replenishment Path Settings

  2. Define Default Replenishment Path

    • Establish your default replenishment path, which is the standard route for inventory movement through your locations. This path is used when no specific rules for an item or supplier are applied.

      • For instance, if you have a distribution center and multiple locations, you can designate the distribution center as the hub and drag the other locations beneath it, marking them as spokes.

    • To set the path, search for locations by name. Hovering over a location will display a pencil icon for editing. Click the pencil icon, select a new replenishment location, and click "Save." To discard changes, click "Cancel."

    • Alternatively, edit the default replenishment path by dragging and dropping locations within the replenishment path diagram. Placing one location beneath another designates the top location as the replenishment location and the lower one as the requirement location.

    • After configuring your default replenishment path, click "Save Changes."

  3. Define Replenishment Paths by Exception

    • This section allows you to create and manage replenishment path rules that apply for specific suppliers or items.

      • Note that Item rules take precedence over supplier rules

    • Add a new rule for each exception, specifying the suppliers or items it affects and how the inventory should move.

      • For example, if you have five locations with a normal distribution center but purchase from one supplier for each location, define a rule for this scenario.

    • To create a new rule, select “Add New Rule.” Enter the Rule Name, Entity (Supplier or Item), the applicable suppliers or items, and the replenishment path.

    • Edit the replenishment path by dragging and dropping locations within the diagram. Placing one location beneath another designates the top location as the replenishment location and the lower one as the requirement location.

    • After configuring your replenishment rule, click "Save."

    • In the Replenishment Path Rules section, you can:

      • Search rules by name

      • Use the actions modal to:

        • Edit rule details

        • Duplicate the rule

        • Delete the rule

Replenishment Path Hierarchy

Recurrency determines the replenishment path for an item using the following hierarchy:

  1. Item Rule: If an item rule exists, it defines the path.

  2. Supplier Rule: If no item rule exists, Recurrency checks for a supplier rule.

  3. Default Path: If no specific rules exist, Recurrency uses the default replenishment path.

Recurrency’s replenishment path functionality streamlines inventory management by allowing for detailed and flexible replenishment path setups. By leveraging these paths, demand planners can optimize inventory flow and ensure timely replenishment across the distribution network.
