Understanding Demand Usage Lines

The Demand Usage Lines feature provides deeper insights into historical usage data, helping you understand how Recurrency calculates demand forecasts. This guide will walk you through accessing and using Demand Usage Lines across the Forecasting, Planning, and Purchasing modules.

The data displayed in Demand Usage Lines is based off of your usage settings. If you’re using the “Use Imported Usage From ERP” setting, the data displayed in Demand Usage Lines will be the monthly usage values from your ERP (Note: The ID's assigned to these usage lines are not tied to sales orders, invoices, or POs but rather generated by your ERP):

If you’re using Quantity Invoiced or Quantity Ordered as your Usage Quantity Source, the data will be shown by invoice or order:

Viewing Demand Usage Lines in Forecasting

  1. Open Forecasting: Navigate to the Forecasting module and select the item you want to review.

  2. Click on the Item's Forecast: In the item view, click on the forecast to examine the details.

  3. Navigate to the Usage Lines Tab: In the forecast details, click on the Usage Lines tab.

    • This will show you all historical usage lines for the selected item, providing detailed visibility into past demand and how forecasts are generated.

    • You can adjust the date range for usage line statistics using the date picker.

Viewing Demand Usage Lines in Planning and Purchasing

  1. Open the Item Side Panel: Navigate to the Planning or Purchasing module and select the item you want to explore.

  2. Open the Usage Tab: In the item side panel, click on the Usage tab to see the relevant data.

  3. Click on "Lines" to View Monthly Usage: Scroll to a prior month and click on the "Lines" option under the “Actions” header at the end of that month.

  • This will allow you to examine the usage for that specific month and understand the demand trends during that period.

  1. Navigate to the Usage Lines Tab: If you want to view all historical usage data, click on the Usage Lines tab.

  • Here, you’ll find a complete breakdown of historical usage for the item, allowing you to track demand trends over time.

Why Use Demand Usage Lines?

Demand Usage Lines provide valuable insights into historical usage, enabling you to:

  • Understand forecast calculations and how past demand shapes future predictions.

  • Analyze trends on a month-by-month basis, giving you more control over decision-making in Planning and Purchasing.

  • Refine your strategy based on detailed data, ensuring more accurate forecasting and better inventory management.
